An eSignature, short for electronic signature, is just like your regular handwritten signature but one that's done digitally. It's a handwritten signature's tech-savvy cousin.

It’s a simple, secure way to sign documents online without printing or scanning anything. eSignatures are legally valid and accepted in most countries, making them a fast and reliable way for businesses to collect signatures.

You’ve probably used eSignatures more often than you think. Ever signed your name on a touchscreen at a store? That’s an eSignature. Even clicking 'I agree' on a website can count as one! They can be a typed name, a scanned image of your signature, a click of a button (capturing consent and intention), or even drawn on a computer or touchscreen.

What is an eSignature?

No, OkaySend is a paid service. ESignatures are available on all plans in addition to our Document Collection and Client Portal features.

All paid plans are free for first 14 days. After the free trial, OkaySend costs a monthly recurring fee. We try to offer competitive pricing that fits your budget while adding meaningful value to your business.

Can I get eSignatures for free?

Yes! Documents signed with OkaySend are legally valid and enforceable for the vast majority of business agreements.

Each country has its own regulations, but globally electronic signatures are widely accepted for business and legal use. For example, in the United States the Electronic Signatures in Global and National Commerce Act (ESIGN) explicitly authorizes the use of electronic records and signatures. Similar laws exist in the European Union, the UK, Canada, Australia, and many other jurisdictions, recognizing eSignatures as legally binding and equivalent to traditional “wet ink” signatures.

Are documents signed with OkaySend legally valid?

Almost any document that needs a signature can be signed with OkaySend, including:

  • Invoices
  • Contracts
  • Sales agreements
  • NDAs
  • HR documents
  • Software licensing agreements
  • Agreements
  • Purchase orders
  • Consumer transactions
  • And other business documents

Note: While eSignatures are widely accepted, some financial or government transactions may still require traditional ‘wet ink’ signatures. It’s always a good idea to double-check before using electronic signatures for sensitive or highly regulated documents. For example, In the U.S., the IRS allows eSignatures on several tax forms (including W-9s and some e-filed returns), but not all.

What types of documents are eligible for electronic signatures?

Yes, eSignatures are widely accepted internationally. Most countries have laws recognizing electronic signatures:

  • United States: ESIGN Act and UETA
  • European Union: eIDAS Regulation
  • Canada: PIPEDA and provincial laws
  • Australia: Electronic Transactions Act
  • Japan: Electronic Signatures Law
  • India: Information Technology Act

These laws ensure that eSignatures are legally equivalent to traditional signatures across borders.

Are eSignatures accepted internationally?

Yes! You can easily sign your own documents with OkaySend before sending them to others. Just upload your file, add your signature field, and sign instantly.

Can I add my own signature to a document?

Nope! You don’t need any special software or extra accounts. You can create, send, and sign eSignatures directly from your OkaySend dashboard.

No special software is required for signers either:

  • Signers receive documents via email
  • They can sign using any web browser or mobile device
  • No downloads or installations required
